As the festive period gets under way, councils from across the region are asking people to open up their homes and hearts and make next Christmas a family Christmas for a child in care.

Luton Council is looking for views to help shape its new Local Plan which will identify areas for development in the borough, such as for new homes, offices, shops, and community facilities.

Luton Council is calling on local businesses from all sectors and training providers to put forward nominations for an award ceremony which will be held for the first time early next year.

Three Luton food businesses have been prosecuted by the council for poor hygiene standards, including pest infestations within the premises. All three businesses were closed immediately using hygiene emergency prohibition powers.

People aged over 65 in Luton are urged to check their eligibility and apply to the DWP for Pension Credit before 21 December, so they can get the Winter Fuel allowance before the deadline.
