12/12/2025 - New ‘Welcoming Spaces’ network launched to strengthen community connections across Luton
A new network of Welcoming Spaces has been launched to help Luton residents discover the wide range of groups, clubs, and activities taking place in their neighbourhoods – and to support even more opportunities for people to come together.
Developed by Luton Council and local community partners, the Welcoming Spaces initiative brings together the wealth of community activities already happening across the town, making it easier for residents to find out what’s on in their area and get involved.
As winter sets in, many of these spaces also offer a warm, safe environment during the day – helping residents manage household costs while accessing support, friendship, advice, and the chance to learn new skills.
Residents can find their nearest Welcoming Space and explore local activities by visiting luton.adoddle.org.
Community organisations who would like to join the network are encouraged to register their interest using the form on luton.gov.uk/welcomingspaces or email [email protected] with any questions.
Councillor Hazel Simmons MBE, Leader of Luton Council, said: “Luton’s strong community spirit is at the heart of what makes our town such a special place. Every day, fantastic activities and groups are running in neighbourhoods right across Luton – yet many residents don’t always know what’s available on their doorstep. The Welcoming Spaces network is about making those connections easier.
We want more people to meet their neighbours, build friendships, and find support whenever they need it in warm, inclusive and accessible local spaces. If you’re part of one of our brilliant voluntary, community, faith or social enterprise groups, I strongly encourage you to register as a Welcoming Space. Working side by side, we can reach even more residents and help strengthen the bonds that hold our town together.”
