COVID-19 - Planning enforcement investigations

In line with the most recent advice of the government and Public Health England, the Planning Enforcement team have sought to give consideration to the welfare of both our staff and customers and are taking steps to reduce social interaction between people in order to reduce the transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Because of the likelihood of social contact with multiple parties, our planning enforcement investigations are likely to be significantly reduced and/or delayed at this present time. We greatly appreciate your support and patience in working with us at this challenging time.

The Planning Enforcement team will continue to work hard to keep current casework going and is looking into options that might enable us to carry out future investigations whilst adhering to the advice regarding social distancing measures.

We place great importance on protecting and enhancing the quality of the built and natural environment.
The enforcement of planning control is a key activity in ensuring that this strategic vision is not undermined by the harmful effects of inappropriate development and is vital to maintaining public confidence in the planning system. Residents and businesses have a right to expect that harmful activities are dealt with effectively. Therefore it is considered of key importance to remedy breaches of planning control where it is appropriate to do so in the public interest.
