Article 4 directions
Planning legislation allows us to make an Article 4 direction to remove permitted development rights (within a specified area and across the administrative area).
Permitted development rights allow certain works and changes of use to take place without needing full planning permission. Further information about planning permission and permitted development rights can be found on the Planning Portal.
When permitted development rights are removed in a local area, anyone wishing to carry out the described development will need to submit a planning application.
The planning application will then be assessed against the relevant policies in the development plan and any supporting guidance.
Permitted development rights for a specified area or property can be removed under article 4 of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015.
Permitted development rights have been removed at the locations showed in the current Article 4 directions page.
