Taxi and private hire licences

From 19th August 2024, the Licensing Service telephone service will be operated between the hours of 10.00 – 12.00 and 13.00 – 15.00. Please only call between these times to speak to an officer.

Our services are available online, please use all available portals.

The licensing service does not have public counter facility all applications are to be processed via electronic facilities and the council’s online portals should be used. Where this is not possible, please email us at [email protected] or telephone 01582 546040.

Our current Hackney Carriage and private hire licensing policy may not be fully accessible or users of assistive technology. It also doesn't include the latest update regarding low and zero emission vehicles. Read the low emissions addendum for details.
