09/04/2024 - Luton Council aims to tackle period poverty
As part of its Luton 2040 vision that no one has to live in poverty, Luton Council is seeking to redress the balance around period poverty with the current cost of living crisis.
Mark Fowler, Deputy CEO and Corporate Director for Population Wellbeing at Luton Council said: “We’re delighted to be working with an award-winning social enterprise to help tackle period poverty and get resources to where they are needed most in the communities. Thank you to everyone who is involved in this important sustainability project.”
In a bid to encourage people to switch to sustainable period products, Luton residents will be able to order free, reusable and sustainable sanitary products from Hey Girls, either direct or through a home delivery service. Products are on a first come, first served basis and can be ordered through the Hey Girls website.
