Housing register change of circumstance
The information on the page applies to you if you've applied for council housing but your circumstances have now changed.
This means, for example, that somebody has joined or left your household, or your income has changed. In these situations, you'll need to let us know by completing our online form to 'report a housing change of circumstances'.
Before you start
You'll need to provide us with evidence of any change to your circumstances before we can update your application.
Documentary evidence required for new household members over 18 years
Do not send original documents through the post
Proof of identity:
- passport, birth certificate or driving licence
- proof of National Insurance number such as:
- National Insurance number card
- payslips or P45/P60
- benefit award letters
Proof of income:
- proof of all state benefits received
- confirmation of any earnings:
- the person’s last two payslips, if paid monthly
- last four, if paid weekly/fortnightly
- alternatively, a copy of the contract of employment
- evidence of any other income
Savings and investments:
- bank/building society statements or passbooks - showing two month’s transactions
- share certificates
- premium Bonds
- national savings certificates
- statements for:
- ISA (individual savings account)
- PEP (personal equity plan)
- TESSA (tax exempt special savings account)
- redundancy notice
- solicitors letters regarding proof of inheritance/sale of property
Additional adult household members will not automatically be added to an application
Adding new household members
Adults requiring an extra bedroom will only be added to an application if they have a demonstrable, permanent need to live with the applicant.
