Purpose for using it
Housing uses your personal data to:
- conduct homeless assessments
- provide temporary or permanent accommodation
- carry out future planning for housing development
- tailor supported services available across the voluntary sector to enable the council to provide a holistic approach to solving your housing and other support needs
- refer low-income households to specialist provision based around warmth intervention, benefit maximisation and handyperson services
- record your interest in self build and custom build register
- understand land availability needs
- send you information on available self build sites and networking events
- manage tenancies, leases and licences, including rent arrears, antisocial behaviour and nuisance, tenancy management and tenancy sustainment, including housing repairs, transfers and exchanges and right to Buy

Why we share it with them
We may share your data for the following reasons:
- to reduce homelessness by providing our citizens with secure accommodation
- to support our citizens to access services available across the voluntary sector to promote independence and self sufficiency
- to provide key services to vulnerable and low-income households to help reduce fuel poverty and improve energy efficiency
- we own and manage social rented housing, affordable tenancies and garages and need to share information to provide a comprehensive management service, including carryout repairs to our properties
- to provide temporary accommodation for eligible homeless households and to provide a comprehensive management service
- to provide support to enable sustainable tenancies and licences
- to detect and prevent fraud and other criminal activity
- to collect council debts

The data will be kept in accordance with our retention schedule.
Exercising your rights
You have the right to ask us to amend or delete your data as well transfer or limit its use. You also have the right to request a review of an automated decision where you think this is wrong.
Each request will be considered individually. Where we are required to keep your data by law we may be unable to action your request. In all circumstances we will explain our decision making in writing to you.
