Humanitarian crisis in Gaza
This page is dedicated to the effort taking place to help the people of Gaza. In November 2023, leaders from all political parties in the town passed a motion calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
Councillor Hazel Simmons MBE, Leader of Luton Council, said: "our thoughts and prayers remain with all those affected by the hugely distressing scenes we have all witnessed and the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe.
"The suffering of the people of Gaza is incomprehensible and we share the deep anger and upset being felt across our communities.
"As a council we have and will continue to voice our concerns on the national stage, call for aid and for the implementation of a peaceful, two state solution."
How you can help
Luton has always rallied around when people are in need. We saw this most recently with:
- the plight of refugees from Afghanistan
- the incredible cross-community response to the Covid pandemic
- the warm welcome given to so many from Ukraine and other war-torn countries
This page provides information and signposting to the local and national campaigns supporting the people of Gaza at this moment in time. The list below is not exhaustive by any means. Follow the links for more information about each group if you wish to donate to support their efforts.
