25/02/2026 - Wigmore Ward by-election to take place on 2 April 2026

Voters in Wigmore Ward will head to the polls on Thursday 2 April 2026 to elect a new councillor.

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. Residents can find details of their designated polling station by using the “Find my Polling Station” tool on the council’s website.

Key information about the by-election, including important dates, deadlines and guidance on how to vote, is now available online.

All eligible residents are encouraged to make sure they are registered to vote. The deadline to register is Tuesday 17 March 2026. Registration takes around five minutes and can be completed online at gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Applications to vote by post must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday 18 March 2026. The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 25 March 2026. Learn more about the different ways to vote.

Voters are reminded that photo ID is required to vote at a polling station. Information about accepted forms of identification is available on the Electoral Commission website.

Mark Fowler, Returning Officer for Luton, said: “This by-election gives eligible electors in Wigmore the opportunity to vote for a ward councillor to represent them. We encourage all residents who are entitled to vote to make sure they are registered and to be aware of the key deadlines. Taking part in elections is an important way for people to have their say on who represents their local area.”
