30/11/2022 - Welcome, warm spaces opening in Luton this winter
A network of warm, friendly spaces for people in Luton is opening up this winter thanks to local voluntary and community groups and Luton Council.
Warm spaces are places where anyone can find a safe, accessible and warm environment during the day to help reduce the cost of heating their own homes and to meet up with friends and neighbours.
Cllr Hazel Simmons MBE, Leader of Luton Council, said: “This winter the cost of living crisis and rising energy bills are putting even more pressure on people in Luton. As part of our support for local people, the Luton Fairness Taskforce is launching a network of warm spaces across our town.
“These welcoming, warm spaces will offer hot drinks and a place for people to get together and save on their heating bills. Some will also offer snacks or even a hot meal and activities such as exercise, or arts and cultural activities.
“Some warm spaces also allow people to get advice and support services on issues from managing money, health and well-being or getting online.”
Look here to find your nearest warm space where residents of Luton can also get help with paying bills, concerns about rising energy costs, benefits and other financial help, employment guidance, housing advice and help with mental health issues.
