03/07/2025 - Tributes paid following unexpected death of Councillor David Wynn

Tributes have been paid to Councillor David Wynn following the announcement that he passed away at Luton and Dunstable hospital on Thursday 26 June.
Councillor Wynn had represented Stopsley ward for the Liberal Democrat party since he was elected to serve at the May 2019 local elections and served as Deputy Leader of the Luton Liberal Democrats since 2024.
Councillor Amjid Ali said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this incredibly painful time. He was a likeable character and passionate about Luton. I am sure we will all agree that he had immense energy and a unique nature that earned him respect from everyone he came into contact with."
Labour council leader and Lewsey councillor Hazel Simmons MBE said: "It was with great sadness that we heard of the passing of Councillor David Wynn. David was a hard working local councillor who worked tirelessly for his local residents. The thoughts of all members of Luton Labour Group are with his family at this sad time."
Councillor Aslam Khan Leader of the Conservative group said: "I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Councillor David Wynn. Having had the privilege of working with David, I found him to be a man of great knowledge, integrity, and a genuine passion for making a difference in our community".
Interim Chief Executive of the council, Mark Fowler, said: "David was known to many for his amazing service, support of local residents and making a fundamental difference. Our hearts and best wishes, from all at Luton Council, go out to his family."
