12/11/2024 - Stay Warm and Well this Winter
Warm spaces launch in Luton for the winter months ahead
A network of warm, friendly spaces for people in Luton is opening this winter, thanks to local voluntary, community and faith groups supported by Luton Council.
Warm spaces are places where anyone can find a safe, accessible and warm environment during the day to help keep the bills down, while at the same time accessing help, support, friendship and the opportunity to learn new skills.
There will be a variety of offers available at different locations ranging from community hubs to faith settings across the borough, where residents can access classes, chat with neighbours, access free wi-fi, have a hot drink or food, or simply read a book.
Use our online, interactive map to find your nearest warm space. You can also use the same map to find various forms of food support such as getting a hot meal or a food parcel, accessing a food pantry or finding your nearest food growing scheme.
If you run a community group that is a Warm Space or would like to provide a Warm Space, please get in touch with us at [email protected]
Councillor Hazel Simmons MBE, Leader of Luton Council, said: “Heating bills are still putting pressure on people in Luton this winter. As part of our support for local people, the Council and our committed local partners, are again providing a network of warm spaces across our town.
“These welcoming, warm spaces will offer hot drinks and a place for people to get together and save on their heating bills. Some will also offer snacks or even a hot meal and activities such as exercise, or arts and cultural activities.
“Some warm spaces also allow people to get advice and support services on issues from accessing a cooking class, a food parcel or getting online.”
