18/07/2023 - Six Luton parks are awarded the coveted Green Flag Award
Luton Council is delighted to announce the retention of the Green Flag Award for six Luton parks.
Cllr Hazel Simmons MBE, Leader of Luton Council, said “I am pleased to hear that Luton’s parks have retained their Green Flag status once again. Luton’s parks are the centre of our communities, where we exercise, relax and celebrate, such as the Wardown Park screening of Luton Town’s play off triumph in May. I would like to thank and commend the efforts of all those who continually maintain our parks to such a high standard.”
Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award Scheme Manager Paul Todd MBE said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved in ensuring that these six parks have achieved the Green Flag Award."
“These parks are vital green spaces for the community in Luton, bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles. The staff and volunteers do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.”
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
