23/02/2026 - Scrutiny Crime and Disorder Committee Meeting

Luton’s Scrutiny Crime and Disorder Committee meet annually to review and scrutinise the discharge of crime and disorder functions by the responsible authorities.

This year the meeting will take place on Wednesday 4 March 2026 at 6.30pm, Luton Town Hall, Council Chamber.

The Committee will receive a progress update on the Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s Policing Plan 2025 to 2028 with specific reference to Luton. The Committee wants to hear whether the proposals for a safer and fairer Bedfordshire have had any significant positive impact on Luton.

The committee will also receive an update on progress of the Luton Community Safety Plan 2024-2028 and will hear about achievements and scrutinise challenges. Retail and vehicle crime in Luton is another area which the committee will examine to see what could be done locally to address the growing challenges regarding retail and vehicle crime.

Cllr Amjid Ali, chair of the Scrutiny Crime and Disorder Committee, said, “The scrutiny crime and disorder committee is a significant platform which allows councillors to scrutinise matters relating to crime in Luton.  Members of the public will have the opportunity to send in written questions, at least 2 days before the date of the meeting”.

Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or virtually by listening to the live broadcast.  Send your written questions to Eunice Lewis via email [email protected] by close of day, on Monday 2 March 2026.
