02/07/2025 - Luton Town Centre – made better this summer

Luton town centre is the place to be this summer, with an exciting range of events, activities, and special offers designed to make visiting more fun, affordable, and accessible for everyone.
From 30 June to 31 August, visitors can enjoy a packed programme across Hat Gardens, Market Hill, and St George’s Square. Highlights include live Wimbledon, cricket and Women’s Euros screenings, outdoor entertainment, family fun days, and health and fitness sessions – offering something for all ages.
Getting into town has never been easier or cheaper, with £1 evening bus travel and £1 parking available in council-operated town centre car parks. Plus, you can get exclusive shopping and dining discounts by downloading the Step Forward Luton App.
This summer’s activities are also aligned with the Safer Streets Summer initiative, led by the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and Bedfordshire Police, and supported by the council. The initiative will see an increase in high-visibility patrols, extended operating hours, and targeted action days tackling anti-social behaviour, retail crime, and promoting nightlife safety – ensuring the town centre remains a welcoming place for all.
Cllr James Taylor, portfolio holder for Regeneration and Inclusive Growth, said, “With more to do, and more to enjoy, there’s never been a better time to visit. We’re proud to offer a vibrant, fun, and safe summer in the heart of Luton. The town centre is also a fantastic place to shop, with exciting new brands opening at Luton Point and even more on the way.
We understand that safety is a top concern for many, and we want to reassure everyone that we're committed to maintaining a secure, welcoming environment for all.”
