15/03/2024 - Help show visitors the very best of Luton - volunteer to be a Luton Rising Festival Maker

Luton Rising, the council-run company that owns London Luton Airport, is launching the official volunteering scheme for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend: Luton Rising Festival Makers.

The scheme will operate in partnership with Luton Council, Step Forward Luton and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).

The music festival is set to take place in Stockwood Park from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 May and will host some of the UK and the world’s top music artists, as well as around 100,000 visitors.

Luton Rising Festival Makers is the volunteer scheme for the weekend that will provide free training on health and safety, communication and customer services to those who take part. Volunteers will also receive a free t-shirt, lunch and snacks during their shifts, and other goodies like water bottles and weather-appropriate clothing. The Festival Makers will play an integral part in the festival as they will welcome thousands of visitors to Luton and help them access the event.

Not only is this a fantastic opportunity for the people of Luton to learn valuable and transferrable skills, but also for them to show off their hometown and welcome thousand of guests over the weekend.”

Luton Rising Festival Makers volunteer co-ordinators will be attending various events in Luton over the coming weeks recruiting for the event, including St Patricks Day celebrations on the 16 and 17 March and The Big Iftar on 22 March.
