23/09/2025 - Halloween storytelling returns to Luton town centre this half-term

Luton Council is delighted to announce the popular storytelling sessions are returning to Hat Gardens for a free Halloween special this October half-term. ‘Spooky Storytelling’ shows will be at 2pm & 3pm on Friday 31 October.
Families are invited to head to the town centre pocket park to hear captivating and imaginative storytelling from the much-loved ‘A Children’s Story.’ Children can play spooky games and dance along with the black cat puppet, led by local storyteller Aaron Spendelow.
Children are encouraged to attend in fancy dress – those who do so will receive a small but sweet treat, while stocks last.
This event follows a successful ‘Summer in Town’ free events programme which brought hundreds of families into various spaces in the town centre including Hat Gardens, Market Hill and St George’s Square.

“We’re delighted to be providing another free and accessible event for families this half-term in Luton,” said Councillor James Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Inclusive Economy at Luton Council.
“Our seasonal storytelling shows are always a community favourite in the events calendar, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere in our town centre spaces like Hat Gardens.”
But that’s not all planned for Halloween in town this year – Step Forward Luton’s Pumpkin Patch in Hat Gardens is back and bigger than before. Expect an abundance of pumpkins for children to pick from, face painting and arts & crafts activities (provided by Luton BID), all free of charge on Wednesday 29 October 10am to 4pm.
These events are made possible with funding from the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
