29/10/2022 - Luton Kingsway depot fire
Bin collections update
Unfortunately due to the fire at Kingsway depot on Saturday 29 October our bin collections services will be impacted.
Until we can determine the extent of the damage we are unclear when the facility can be brought back into full operation. At this stage we are prioritising domestic general waste collection.
We do apologise for the inconvenience and we kindly ask people to be patient as we work hard to catch up.
We hope to significantly catch up Monday so collections can run as scheduled from Tuesday.
We are doing everything we can to minimise disruption and will keep you informed. Thank you for your patience.
Monday - outstanding collections
Additional crews will be out from Monday emptying domestic general waste bins that are currently overdue to be collected. We will also be collecting general waste from high rise flats and communal bins. We will also work hard to catch up on outstanding green recycle bins.
Glass collections
Kerbside glass collections are currently suspended so please use one of your local glass recycling points until rounds are back to normal. We will be emptying these more regularly to allow for any extra glass.
Bulky waste
If you had already booked a collection we will try our hardest to collect your waste. Unfortunately we will not be able to take any additional bookings until arrangements are put in place.
Tidy tips
We kindly ask people not to bring wood to either of our tidy tips currently as the area used for sorting wood at Kingsway will be prioritised for dealing with household waste.
Household domestic recycling and garden waste
Please be patient as our ability to dispose of waste collected may take longer than usual so services could be running behind.
