01/02/2023 - Council gives notice of intention to sell land for development
Today, 1 February, Luton Council has issued a public notice announcing its intention to sell Wandon Park to allow for a residential development of nearly 60 family homes.
Of these 42 will be for private sale and 17 will be for rent at affordable prices.
Planning permission for the scheme was granted on 16 September.
The council will receive capital funds if the sale goes ahead and dividends from Foxhall Homes the developer, which is a council owned company. These funds will go towards delivering services for the people of Luton.
Councillor Tom Shaw, portfolio holder for housing said, “The motivation behind this development lies in the fact that Luton is desperately short of family homes. If this scheme goes forward it will make important inroads towards helping us provide vital houses for Luton families.”
We appreciate that many people are concerned by this scheme. For this reason a new larger park is being provided which will be dedicated to the Fields in Trust to protect it for recreational use in perpetuity.
This notice and plan has been deposited at the Reception of Luton Council, Town Hall, George Street, Luton LU1 2BQ and may be inspected free of charge Monday to Friday, during normal office hours.
Any representations or objections with respect to the proposal must be made in writing to: Mark Davie, Strategic and Commercial Asset Manager, Property and Infrastructure, Luton Council, Town Hall, George Street, Luton LU1 2BQ and should be received no later than 5pm on 16th February 2023.
Please state clearly reasons for any such representation or objection.
