23/01/2024 - Community job fairs brings jobseekers and employers together

Luton Council is hosting a series of job fairs throughout Luton, designed to engage residents and connect them with a range of job and training opportunities.

From 21 February to 20 March, the events will be held at Lewsey, Marsh Farm, Bury Park, Farley Hill, and The Mall. They will serve as a resource for people trying to find work or advance their skills.

Employers and local organisations that are taking part include EasyJet, Ocado, Connect2Luton, Home Instead, Mitie, The Forklift Truck Training Centre, National Careers Service, and O'Neill and Brennan. Attendees will have the invaluable opportunity to meet with these employers, discuss career opportunities and available positions. There will also be teams from the council on hand to discuss the numerous job opportunities available, including those in the Neighbourhood Services team, with jobs in passenger transport, refuse and parks service. For residents who have been out of the workforce for some time, representatives from Luton Adult Learning will be on hand to answer questions and provide guidance and support on training opportunities, job hunting and career development.

Cllr Javeria Hussain, Portfolio Holder for Skills and Employability, said: “We are excited to hold these job fairs which we hope will be helpful. Our aim is to support the local community by providing a platform for job seekers to connect with local employers and access resources that can help them to find the right career pathway or training opportunity.

“We want to help people gain new skills and help local employers address any recruitment issues and close skills gaps. We encourage anyone who is looking for work or who would like some guidance about jobs and training to attend and take advantage of this fantastic opportunity.”
