06/04/2023 - Come celebrate St George's day at Wardown Park

Luton Council is delighted to announce details of its popular St George’s Day celebrations, which will be held in Wardown Park this year.

The event will take place on Sunday 23 April and the free entertainment will include JezO magician (as seen on Britain’s Got Talent), crafts and face painting. The Luton Concert Band will also be playing signalling the start of this year’s Wardown Bandstand programme which will feature jazz, soul and reggae and gospel over the summer.

People can also book, for a cost, peddle boat sessions on Wardown Park Lake and Adventure Golf. 1Eid will also be holding Eid celebrations in the park, which start on the Friday, with fun fair and circus performers and fire jugglers.

Luton Rising, the council’s airport company, is acting as the principal sponsor of the St George’s Day event, making it possible once again.

Mark Turner, Service Director at Luton Rising said, "We are really pleased to be part of this celebration. It’s so important for us to help fund such vital and loved community events which take place across the town and we hope that everyone who comes along and joins in has a wonderful day.”

Adam Divney, Service Director at Luton Council said, "We’re really looking forward to this year’s St George’s Day and it is being hosted in Wardown Park, meaning people can enjoy the Bandstand, peddle boats and various other activities on offer.

“It’s going to make for an exciting day out and a great opportunity for friends and family to grab a picnic and come and get involved with one of our most popular events”.

The St George’s Day celebrations start at 11am on Sunday 23 April and run until 4pm.
