17/11/2025 - Luton town centre’s pocket park set to sparkle with free family fun day

Luton Council are excited to announce the popular ‘Christmas in Hat Gardens’ is returning on Saturday 13 December from 2 to 6pm. The town centre pocket park is set to be transformed for an afternoon packed full of free festive fun for all the family.

Highlights include a stage line-up showcasing local talented musicians and poets guaranteed to get everyone into the Christmas spirit. Children can enjoy free face painting, write their letters to Santa and post them straight to the North Pole in Hat Gardens’ special post box. A giant gingerbread man and a whole host of other eye-catching walkabout performers will roam the park throughout the afternoon, spreading festive cheer and posing for photos.

Councillor James Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Inclusive Economy at Luton Council, shared his enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled to see ‘Christmas in Hat Gardens’ return for another year, it’s quickly become one of the highlights of our town centre events calendar.

“This extends our commitment to keeping our programme free and accessible so families can enjoy the Christmas season and make lasting festive memories here in Luton town centre.”

‘Christmas in Hat Gardens’ will round up a vibrant schedule of activity, with the Bute Street pocket park hosting over 35 events this year including live sports screenings, morning yoga, children’s storytelling, multiple outdoor cinemas and most recently, Step Forward Luton’s Pumpkin Patch.

This event is made possible through the United Kingdom’s Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
