05/12/2023 - Change up your wardrobe for free at our festive clothes swap event

A festive clothes swap event is taking place on Saturday 16 December in Luton, giving people the opportunity to a get a different outfit by donating an old one.

The event, hosted in partnership with the council’s Strategic Waste Team, the Mall, Food First Luton and Lutonkind-Kids, takes place between 11am and 3pm at Unit 55, the Mall (next to Tesco). Anyone wishing to attend can drop off items at various times between 4 and 14 December for them to be inspected, sorted and categorised before the day. Categories will include adult and evening partywear, baby and children’s partywear, festive tops, jumpers and accessories.

People are asked to bring up to five items of good quality, clean clothes and will be issued with tickets in return that will indicate the type of item they’ll be able to swap with. Donations are also accepted for those not wishing to swap anything.

Swishing, or clothes-swapping, is a great way to save costs this Christmas, shop ethically and save money. Keeping items of clothing, shoes, and accessories in life for longer makes a big difference to the environment, and enables people to improve their wardrobe at the same time. With many different clothes on offer, these events are always a lot of fun, as you never quite know what you’ll come away with.

Drop off your unwanted items at Unit 55 next to Tesco on any of the following dates and times:

4 December, 10am to 12:30pm

5 December, 2pm to 4pm

7 December, 12pm to 2pm

11 December, 10am to 12:30pm

12 December, 2pm to 4pm

14 December, 10am to 12pm
