25/03/2025 - Car trader sentenced for selling unsafe cars

A car trader has been sentenced for selling cars without declaring safety recalls or mileage and other discrepancies.

Syed Haider, aged 26 of Hepleswell, Two Mile Ash, Milton Keynes, trading as Marsh Motors and subsequently Space Motors, operating in Dunstable Road, Luton, appeared before Luton Magistrates on 18 March 2025.

The Court heard that the business advertised a number of vehicles from 2022 to 2023 without informing consumers about Outstanding Manufacturer’s Safety Recalls, sold three vehicles without informing consumers about potential mileage issues and made other false descriptions in relation to vehicles.

Vehicles should have any recalls rectified before sale and if advertised whilst awaiting for the recall, this information should be in the advert. All other descriptions should be accurate and not mislead the consumer.

Mr Haider pleaded guilty to all charges. He was fined £1,666, reduced from £2,500 for credit for an early guilty plea, a Victim Surcharge of £666 and costs of £2,333. The total cost to pay was £4,665.
