Luton Family Help

Luton is proud to be one of just seven local authorities chosen for the second wave of the government’s families first for children pathfinder programme - an initiative that’s reshaping how children and families are supported across the country.

Putting Luton families first

In Luton, we’ve long believed that families know best what they need. That’s why our approach puts children and families at the heart of decision-making. Whether it’s support from neighbours, community groups, or specialist practitioners, families lead the way in shaping their own plans.

We’re seeing real change:

  • fewer children on child protection plans
  • fewer entering care
  • more staying safely with their birth families - because support is timely, local, and built around what matters most to them.

Building on strong foundations

Our strong partnerships - across health, education, voluntary organisations and the council - have been key. Together, we’ve co-designed a model that works for Luton. The pathfinder has enhanced this, allowing us to go further and faster.

With Luton Family Hubs now in place, families have even more ways to access help early - without stigma, without delay.
