Designing for community safety in a quality environment supplementary planning guidance

The supplementary planning guidance 'Designing for Community Safety in a Quality Environment' (2003) provides comprehensive guidelines to assist developers in achieving community safety and a quality environment in Luton, through design.

This SPG deals with actions which can be taken within the physical environment to reduce crime, anti-social behaviour and the fear of crime. It also takes account of related issues associated with other kinds of physical safety and provides guidelines for the delivery of a quality environment overall. The guideline focuses on new development but also addresses issues related to existing premises.
