Conservation area appraisals and management plans

 

Conservation area appraisals help communities to understand the character and significance of areas, and their special or historic interest.

They are material considerations in determining planning applications.

Conservation area management plans:

  • outline our intentions for protecting and enhancing conservation areas
  • reinforce the positive character of conservation areas
  • help to coordinate stakeholder actions
  • can outline opportunities to better reveal or enhance significance

We've produced a conservation area appraisal and a management plan for the Plaiters’ Lea: The Hat District conservation area. Both were agreed by the Executive on 17 August 2020. The conservation area boundary was extended at the same time.
