Parents of pupils in Year 6 must apply for a high school place for September 2025.

The closing date for parents to apply for a high school place for their child has now passed.

However, you can still apply for a high school place for your child.

Please note, late applications and changes of preference will not be considered in the initial allocation of places.

If you are submitting the form to change your preference(s) and we are able to allocate one of the schools you have stated on your form, the school your child was originally allocated will immediately be withdrawn and re-allocated to another child.

You must apply for a school place even if:

  • you have already made an earlier application direct to the school
  • your preferred school is not in Luton
  • your preferred school is a faith school, a foundation school, an academy or a free school

It is really important that you read our How to apply for a school place for September 2025 guide before making your application.

Making an application using the Education Portal

You must register to the online system if you have not used the online application system in the past year.

Once you have completed the registration, you will be able to access the system using the log in details you have used this year for any future online applications you wish to make.

You will be asked to upload proof of your address to the online system.

You must read the checklist before submitting your application.

If you specify Cardinal Newman Catholic School as a preference, you must also complete the school’s supplementary form and provide the completed supplementary form, your child’s original Baptismal Certificate or First Holy Communion Certificate and Certificate of Catholic Practice direct to the school.

Please note:  If you are applying for a school outside of Luton, you must provide any additional documents/supporting information direct to the relevant local authority and/or the school(s) you are applying for.  Documentation sent to Luton’s Admissions Team will not be forwarded on to the relevant local authority and/or school.

For late applications received up to 20 March 2025, decisions will be sent to parents on 14 May 2025.

For late applications received up to 1 May 2025, decisions will be sent to parents on 27 June 2025.

Applications received after 1 May 2025 will be processed in due course and the Admissions Team will aim to advise parents in writing of the outcome before September 2025.
