The electoral and open register
When you register to vote, your name goes on the electoral register, which is a list of people eligible to vote.
Full electoral register
The full electoral register has the names and addresses of everyone registered to vote. It can’t be sold to anyone. Your details would only be used for electoral purposes or supplied to:
- prevent and detect crime
- call you for jury service
- check applications for loans or credit
Open register
The open register is a version of the electoral register which can be bought by any person, company or organisation.
Your name and address is included in the open register unless you ask for them to be removed when you register.
More information about the open register can be found at legislation.gov.uk.
Remove your details from the open register
If you’re already registered to vote you can take your name off the open register using our form. You will still be able to vote.
You can choose if you want your details on the open register when you register to vote.
Update your electoral register details
If you want to amend your current details on the electoral register (e.g. change of name or moved out) then complete the Update your electoral register details form. If you have recently moved into Luton or have moved to a new address within Luton then complete the register to vote form.
View the electoral register
