17/05/2021 - Tourist and visitor businesses offered free help to promote themselves
Luton businesses that rely on visitors and tourists are being given the opportunity to promote their business for free through Experience Bedfordshire, on a first come, first served basis.
As part of our Covid-19 Economic Recovery Plan, the council is providing funding to enable 65 local businesses the opportunity to sign up to Experience Bedfordshire, a tourism organisation promoting all of Bedfordshire, to give businesses a boost as the tourism sector reopens in line with the government’s roadmap.
Experience Bedfordshire is the destination management organisation for Bedfordshire and works to support all visitor economy businesses, including hotels, retail outlets, tourist attractions and restaurants.
Cllr Sian Timoney, Deputy Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Transformation said, said “We are really pleased to be able to support those businesses that have been hit hard by the pandemic with this opportunity to promote themselves. The visitor economy is a key to our 2040 vision and our ambitions to ensure business can thrive and grow, providing jobs in this sector. Signing up to Experience Bedfordshire will help boost their profile at this vital times as they reopen.”
Chair of Experience Bedfordshire, Sarah Mortimer, said “The Visitor Economy plays a critical part in the long term stability and development of an area and as part of the local plans for economic recovery, this opportunity for Luton Businesses is a really positive step forward. This campaign will support these important local businesses to reopen and help them to focus on the right messages for their customers; it will also help drive up the visitor numbers coming into the area.”
