16/07/2020 - Luton SENDIAS launch their new improved service and website.

Luton SENDIAS is proud to announce a new website that is accessible to all service users.

Luton SEND Information Advice Support Service (SENDIAS) offers free, impartial and confidential information, advice and support to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their parents and carers on issues relating to health, education and social care.
It is a statutory service supported and funded by Luton Council and Luton Clinical Commissioning Group.

The service operates at ‘arms length’ from the Local Authority and can help you understand what services you are entitled to and how to access them.

Rachel Choosey, Co-manager, Luton SENDIAS said: “We are proud to announce the virtual launch of our new improved service and new website from Monday 20 July. Please visit our website which has a wealth of resources and videos to explain how we can support children and young people with SEND and their families.

“We are now able to provide an all year-round flexible service which is open during normal office hours and includes virtual face to face meetings, email service and a direct helpline with 24-hour answering machine. The trained officers are able to discuss through options available, the possible outcomes and help service users make an informed decision.”

The new website supports the service by providing easily accessible information and guidance including a noticeboard for events alongside signposting to support groups. On the website there are some videos on a range of topics to support with SEN issues as well as other useful resources to help prepare for productive meetings at school and a helpful jargon buster.

Our SENDIAS Officers are keen to work with parent/carer support groups, local SEN groups, SEN youth forums, disability groups and support training events. Please do get in touch if you would like them to attend and promote the service to families and young people.

If you would like to speak to someone from the team, please call 01582 548156 or email [email protected].
