14/05/2020 - Luton Adult Learning release free Passport to Employment online courses

The current situation has caused job uncertainty for many people in Luton, with some of our residents facing the prospect of seeking new employment and having to navigate their way through the application process for the first time in many years.

Luton Adult Learning has designed a series of free online employability workshops which will be free to access as of the 18th May.

The 40 minute sessions, which will be held over four days next week, are aimed at anyone who might be struggling to construct a CV, complete an application form or identify their transferrable skills.  If you think you would benefit from some guidance in this area, please contact the Passport to Employment team at [email protected]

Cllr Aslam Khan, portfolio holder for Adult and Community Learning, said: “Passport to Employment is an important service that supports the local work force. Having to suspend courses due to Covid 19 will  have had an impact on those undertaking training, so running employability skills workshops online is a great way of making them available to those who need support at such an important time.

“We are really proud of Passport to Employment and the positive outcomes that it has created for our residents.”
The courses available from Monday are as follows:

Monday 18 May - Identify your skills
Tuesday 19 May - CV workshop
Wednesday 20 May - Application form workshop
Thursday 21 May - Interview skills workshop

To join the sessions you will need access to the internet, a computer, laptop or tablet and a smart phone.  To register your interest, email [email protected] or visit the Adult Learning Facebook page or  at Adult Learning.

Details on how you can book on to these interactive sessions are also available on the Adult Learning Facebook page or by visiting the Adult Learning website.

Passport to Employment was launched in 2018 to assess the needs of the local workforce and provide support in overcoming barriers to employment. The Passport to Employment team has developed partnerships with Job Centre Plus, local employers, education providers and other local referral agencies  to ensure local people are fully prepared for working life with the core skills employers need.
