16/12/2022 - Businesses support Luton warm spaces network

Local businesses are coming forward to support the network of warm spaces in Luton this winter and a new website has been set up so more businesses can join in.

Luton Connects is here to broker opportunities for local businesses to support organisations in Luton to open their doors and provide a space with respect, dignity, and warmth.

Businesses can donate goods or money. The website lists the items most in demand from warm spaces, such as warm clothes, thermal blankets, children’s toys and games and tea, coffee and sugar.

The initiative brings together local businesses including The Mall, Luton BID and Mary Seacole Housing Association with the support of Luton Council.

The network of warm, friendly spaces for people in Luton is opening up this winter thanks to local voluntary and community groups and Luton Council.

Warm spaces are places where anyone can find a safe, accessible and warm environment during the day to help reduce the cost of heating their own homes and to meet up with friends and neighbours.

Cllr Hazel Simmons MBE, Leader of Luton Council, said:  “We are proud how Luton’s voluntary, faith and charitable sector has stepped up to deliver warm spaces. Luton Connects is a fantastic way for businesses to support local Luton residents who are using these warm spaces and I urge everyone to help out if they can.”

Please follow this link if your business can donate items to help people visiting our warm spaces and find out what's needed.

You can find your nearest warm space on the Luton Supporting You webpage where you can also get help with paying bills, concerns about rising energy costs, benefits and other financial help, employment guidance, housing advice and help with mental health issues.
