Market Hill

This venue includes an elegant brick-paved amphitheatre with access either by stairs or from the front. Below is a decorative paved area, allowing a viewing audience to stand and watch activities in the amphitheatre or provide space for display units.

The location is part of the pedestrianised high street area, one of the main routes through the town centre, and close to three exits from the Mall shopping centre, which has an average monthly footfall of 1.6million.

This location is suitable for smaller staged events, commercial promotions and public information campaigns.

Features:

  • Amphitheatre 18m in diameter and paved area 23m long.
  • Two power supply boxes set into the back walls of the amphitheatre (2 x 16 amp and 2 x 32 amp).
  • Access for vehicles - access to Market Hill is limited by hydraulic bollards that are controlled remotely. You'll be required to access and exit the site with vehicles before 1000 hours and there will be no re-entry or exit until after 1800 hours. If you wish for a vehicle related to the event to remain for the event duration approval will be required. Please note that the bollards are not controlled by us and therefore we are unable to allow access or exit between the previously stated times.
  • Banner space available on railings round the amphitheatre (subject to approval).
  • Debit / monetary collections – If you wish to accept direct debit collections during your event this can be permitted however you must remain within the amphitheatre area of Market Hill (within brick walls) for the duration of the event, this includes representatives of the event. This is due to an agreement in place with the PFRA regarding direct debit collections in the Town Centre. If you wish to carry out a form of monetary collection (street collection) this would be permitted outside of or inside the amphitheatre area however you would require a Street Collection Permit. A Street Collection Permit can be obtained from the Licensing Service but would require at least 30 days’ notice prior to the collection taking place.
