PAR-Q

All participants are required to view our PAR-Q (physical activity readiness questionnaire) ahead of participating in regular or increased exercise.

For most people being active should not pose a risk, however this questionnaire is designed to identify the small number of people for where it may be unsuitable.

If you answer YES to any of the following questions you must gain consent from your doctor before participating in any group exercise sessions.

  1. Has your doctor ever said you have a heart condition and you should only exercise when recommended by a doctor?
  2. Do you feel pain in your chest when you do or do not do physical activity?
  3. Do you lose your balance because of dizziness or have you ever lost consciousness?
  4. Do you have a bone or joint problem that could be made worse by a change in exercise?
  5. Is your doctor currently prescribing medication for your blood pressure or heart condition?

Please do not attend the class if any of the following applies:

  • you have a temporary illness such as a cold or fever – you should wait until you feel better
  • you're pregnant - talk to your health care practitioner or a qualified exercise professional before becoming more physically active
  • your health changes - talk to your doctor or qualified exercise professional before continuing with any physical activity

Have you answered NO to all questions? If you answered NO and have reasonable assurance of your suitability for exercise, then you don't need to do anything else.

Important: By taking part in our yoga class, we assume that you have read the above PARQ and are well enough to participate at your own risk.
