Property licence fees

 

All licences are issued once property has attained the required standard. Licences will generally be issued for a five year period. Fee structure itself is subject to annual review in scale of charges.

All licence fees are made up of two parts - the first £120 of each fee covers the processing of the application which is not refundable and the remainder of the fee covers monitoring and enforcement which is refundable to unsuccessful applicants. Only one payment will be taken covering both parts of the fee.

Early adoption licensing fees (Selective Licensing only)

Completed full applications (with all relevant supporting documentation, certificates and the correct fee) submitted and received by the council.

  • Month one - £150
  • Month two - £250
  • Month three onwards - As below

No discounts on early adoption fees

Property licensing fees

  • Up to three bedrooms - £480
    Plus a charge per additional bedroom (or self-contained) flat over three:
    • HMOs - £120
    • Other licensable dwellings - £30
  • Revocation of licence (at landlord request) - no charge
  • Variation of licence
  • Plus a charge per additional bedroom (or self-contained) flat over three:
    • HMOs- £120
    • Other licensable dwellings £30
  • Online applications - no additional fee
  • Paper applications additional charge - £42 + VAT = £50.40

Discounts

  • Discount for accredited landlords (only one discount per application) - £120

Other fees

  • Fee for production of floor plan by the council (HMOs only) - £225 + VAT = £270
  • Fee for copy of register - £42 + VAT = £50.40
  • Renewal fee - As licence fee

Penalties

  • Incomplete applications - rejected and £120 retained
