Property licence fees
Government guidance states that the cost of the HMO licensing function should be covered by licensing fees paid for by the licence applicant. A review of our licensing function revealed that the fees we were charging did not fully:
- cover our costs
- provide sufficient resources to effectively run the service
We've therefore had to adjust our fees to ensure we comply with current guidelines. The new fees will provide additional resources to enable us to provide an improved service to landlords and ensure tenants are living in safe, compliant properties.
Licences will generally be issued for a five year period and the fee structure is subject to annual review in scale of charges.
All licence fees are made up of two parts - ‘Part A’ of each fee covers the processing of the application which is not refundable. The remainder of the fee covers monitoring and enforcement which is refundable to unsuccessful applicants.
