HMOs - advice for tenants

If you live in a house in multiple occupation (HMO) your landlord must comply with certain standards.

Please ensure:

• that there are an adequate number of amenities, such as toilets, bathrooms, cooking facilities

• that there are adequate fire precautions, such as fire doors, smoke detectors, alarms.

• that the property is a suitable size and layout for the number of people or occupants living there.
