18/12/2012 - Ward 17 at Luton and Dunstable Hospital
In February 2012 the two Adult Safeguarding Boards of Luton, and Bedford and Central Bedfordshire, together commissioned an Independent Inquiry as part of their Joint Safeguarding Review into events at Ward 17 at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
Professor Michael Preston-Shoot, Independent Chair of the joint safeguarding group, invites members of the media to a press conference at NHS The Lodge, 4 George Street West, LUTON LU1 2BJ at 12 noon on Wednesday 19 December when the Overview Report will be published.
He will be joined by Pauline Philip, Chief Executive of the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, Det Insp Jerry Waite from Bedfordshire Police, and report author Derek Law MBE.
Also present will be Pam Garraway, director with responsibility for adult services at Luton Borough Council, Julie Ogley, director with responsibility for adult services at Central Bedfordshire Council, and Mr John Pickles, former medical director, Luton & Dunstable Hospital.
Conference will be held in the Training Room on the 1st floor. Members of the media are requested to report to main reception, accessed from George Street West, from 11.45am.
Please note this will be the only opportunity for the media to ask questions concerning this Independent Inquiry.
