Personal health budgets

A personal health budget is an amount of money to support your health and wellbeing needs, it is planned and agreed between you and your local NHS team.

The personal health budget was introduced in 2014 and it aims to give you more control over your own care, or your child’s.

If you’re an adult and you are currently eligible for continuing healthcare (CHC) NHS funding from Luton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), you can now ask to receive this funding as a personal health budget.

If your child currently receives continuing care NHS funding from Luton CCG you also have the right to apply for this funding as a personal health budget. An agreed representative will then manage the funding on the child’s behalf.

Personal health budgets work in a similar way to the personal budgets many people already use to manage and pay for their own personal social care.

You can find more information and examples of how other people are using their personal health budgets on the NHS website. Follow this link to the NHS personal health budget website.
