Covid and fostering

Luton’s Fostering team are here throughout this difficult time, doing its upmost to recruit foster carers for Luton’s children in care. We are still here to take your enquiries and progress applications. Take the next step and make that call.

Please see below our FAQs about COVID19 and fostering which may help to alleviate any concerns you may have about fostering.

Are you still recruiting foster carers?

Yes: the need for more foster carers has not slowed down. We still need foster carers. This can be a difficult time for many families.

Please do get in touch to find out how you can help us a foster carer with us.

I was hoping to pop along to one of your information events, are you doing anything to replace these?

Our information sessions are taking place online. Please visit our events page for more details.

Not able to attend? You can still give us a call between 9am and 5:30pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 4.30pm Friday for a chat about fostering, on 01582 54633.

Can I apply to foster during lock-down?

Yes: if are ready to take the next step, you can complete an expression of interest online.

How will the assessment be carried out during the lockdown?

The assessment process takes approximately 4 months, during ‘Covid’ we will continue working to this time frame. The majority of visits and meetings will take place virtually. Any visits to your home will take place within Covid-19 guidelines and practices.

Will training still be available?

Yes: we are currently running ‘virtual training’ for potential foster carers. Our ‘Skills to Foster’ training is carried out over a three day period.

If your question is not here, then please give us a call on 01582 547633 and we will be happy to help you.
