Learning Disability Partnership: day opportunities, employment and training sub-group
The day opportunities, employment, and training sub-group meets to identify ways of supporting people to ensure their day is meaningful
The sub-group discusses progress and developments around the current day service transformation programme and looks at new projects and activities that are available.
The group also monitor the number of people with a learning disability progressing into training and developing their skills, or progressing into voluntary, or paid, employment.
The government wants to see more people with learning disabilities gain more skills and find work. We can work towards this by supporting people to access meaningful daytime activities.
We refer to the way we work with people who have learning disabilities as ‘person-centred’ which means that each person is treated as an individual and their needs and wishes are right at the centre of their care. This means that adults with learning disabilities will be supported to access their choice of day activities and to find the type of employment that matches their wishes and their skills.
Access to day opportunities is only available to those who meet the eligibility criteria and are referred from the Community Learning Disability Team.
