Simpler Recycling for households

From late March, we will be rolling out a new waste and recycling scheme.

This will happen alongside councils across the country, as part of the government’s national Simpler Recycling initiative.

It’s designed to make recycling easier, increase recycling rates, improve the quality of recycling and benefit the environment.

Here in Luton, we already collect the materials required by Simpler Recycling apart from food waste.

Recycling collection changes

From late March:

• a new weekly food waste collection service will be introduced for all residents, whether you live in a house or flat
• glass collections will change from monthly to every two weeks
• recycling collections will remain the same with collections taking place every two weeks
• general waste collections will remain the same with collections taking place every two weeks
