Odour and noise control in food premises

The preparation and cooking of food in commercial kitchens is likely to generate odour and noise.

Report noise or bad smells

Nuisance odour and noise problems from commercial kitchen exhausts can be a problem particularly when residential accommodation is located adjacent to or immediately above the catering premises.

It is therefore important that commercial kitchen exhausts are designed to avoid noise problems and have a suitable grease and odour control system.

When a planning application is submitted for a new food business, we will ask the applicant for details of the kitchen extraction system and will ensure that a suitable system is installed.
