Luton Museums Education Service

The work of Luton museums education service includes activities at Wardown Park Museum and Stockwood Park Museum as well as the nature conservation service based at the John Dony Field Centre.

The service delivers a wide-ranging programme of learning opportunities for all ages. Sessions delivered on site by museum service staff, which are available for all key stages.

These include popular History topics such as Houses & Homes, Toys and World War Two as well as Science focused sessions that include Materials, Mechanisms and Rivers and Habitats. At secondary level the Museum Service can help with Leisure and Tourism as well as History and Geography.

The museums education service produces a number of local history resource packs, which support our teaching programme and the National Curriculum. Drawing on the wealth of information in the local history collections they cover the growth of Luton from 1750 to 2000, wartime Luton and the straw-hat industry. Full of photocopiable primary sources, they are a very useful resource for teachers.
