Pre-apprenticeship training programme
The Barnfield pre-apprenticeship programme is for young people who need to improve their skills before starting an apprenticeship.
Course outline
The Barnfield pre-apprenticeship course aims to give you the knowledge and skills to prepare you for employment.
The course is a mixture of classroom learning and work experience.
Classroom learning
You will study for the BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Employability Skills.
The course will cover topics including:
- preparing for an interview
- interview skills
- working in a team
- your rights and responsibilities at work
Work experience
As part of the pre-apprenticeship course you will spend much of your time on a work placement in one of the following industries:
- education
- construction
- childcare
- sales
- catering
What will I be able to do after the course?
If you complete the course successfully, you could go on to:
- an intermediate apprenticeship (Level 2)
- a general or vocational qualification
- a job
Entry criteria
To do this course, you must be:
- a school leaver
- aged 16 or over
