St George's Day celebrations
This St George’s Day prepare for a day of action and adventure, with the History Knights in Wardown Park. Test your skills at the crossbows, mount your steed in our hobby horse races or test your nerves in our family joust and inflatable sword tournament. Try on your knight and princess outfits and head off on a dragon quest whilst our medieval musicians and storytellers enchant and entertain. With play tables, craft activities and archaeology trays, whatever your age there’s free fun for everyone!
Take part in medieval world activities, delivered by the History Knights team.
- Hand-held wooden cross bows (suitable for small children as well as adults)
- Soft archery
- Family joust/melee inflatable sword battle
- Play table with action figures and toy castles

- Search for the king’s treasure
- 'Off With Their Heads' coconut shy
- Hobby horse race
- Dragon quest
- Dress up in a range of costumes for both children and adults
- Story-telling of a mixture of English and African folk tales as well as stories of St George and Luton's medieval past
- Medieval musicians
- Medieval herbs and plants with Bedfordshire Wildlife Trust hosting a touch and smell table/exhibition - learn about our natural environment and how herbs and plants were use as medicines, foods and dyes
