Local Sustainable Transport Fund
The Local Sustainable Transport Fund will be used to improve facilities and promote access to walking and cycling, bus and train use.
The Council secured the grant from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund and has already identified several schemes that will benefit, including better links, such as cycle lanes, for cyclists and pedestrians travelling to work, local shops and community facilities.
Money will also be used to improve pedestrian and cycle facilities around Sundon Arch, including new pedestrian and cycle crossings on Sundon Park Road and Toddington Road, and to upgrade the new ‘hip-hop’ multi-operator bus ticket to a smartcard system by 2013/14.
Smarter Choices of travel will include a range of workplace, school, and personal travel planning initiatives to encourage greater use of bus and train travel and to walk, cycle or car share more often.
Local Transport Plan 2 2006-2011
The second Local transport plan for the Luton Dunstable and Houghton Regis area.
The Local transport plan (LTP) for Luton, Dunstable and Houghton Regis covers the period from April 2006 to March 2011. It is known as LTP2 because it is the second LTP for the Luton Dunstable and Houghton Regis conurbation. It has been produced jointly with Bedfordshire County Council and South Bedfordshire District Council because the three towns form a continuously built-up area with a common set of local transport problems.
This production of this document is a requirement of the Department for Transport. It differs significantly from the first LTP with the inclusion of a number of additional issues. However, it also continues many of the policies that were established in the first LTP. It is expected that the requirement to complete Annual Progress Reports (APR) will continue over the period of LTP2.
The LTP2 is available below for download.
The document is available below can also be purchased for £40 as a paper document or £10 on a CD. These can be requested by e-mail from [email protected] or by writing to us.
Local Transport Plan 2 Delivery Report
This document, which is structured in accordance with Department for Transport guidance, sets out a review of the performance of the second Luton Dunstable and Houghton Regis Local Transport Plan (LTP2) at a mid point in its five year delivery.
The LTP2 clearly sets out the importance of a cross cutting and diverse delivery programme to tackle the needs of the conurbation’s communities in:
- improving road safety
- increasing accessibility
- improving air quality
- cutting congestion
- maintaining the transport infrastructure
A copy the delivery report is available to download below.
Local Transport Plan 3 2011-2026
This is the third Local Transport Plan (LTP3). It mainly covers Luton, although it does refer to strategic transport infrastructure and other cross-boundary matters for the whole conurbation, particularly in relation to the planned growth of the area.
