Christmas in Luton: a season of festive fun for everyone
This winter, Luton town centre comes alive with a vibrant programme of festive activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Our free annual Christmas lights switch-on event, sponsored by Luton Rising, Luton Lights Up for Christmas is taking place on Saturday 22 November 2025, with a day of live music and entertainment across the town centre.
Delivered in collaboration with our partners, Luton BID and Luton Point, the seasonal line-up celebrates community, creativity and Christmas cheer.
This year’s special guest is Paddington™, appearing courtesy of Luton BID. Festivities begin at 11am, with the official lights switch-on scheduled for around 6pm.
Times and locations
- Live music and entertainment from 2pm.
- Meet Paddington at intervals from 2 to 6.30pm outside the town hall.
- Luton Point's 'Countdown to Christmas' bauble decorating from 11am to 5pm in Central Square.
- Light switch on from 6pm outside the town hall.
Road closures on Saturday 22 November
The following roads will be closed on the day:
- George Street - noon to 7pm
- Upper George Street (from Wellington Street to Gordon Street) - noon to 7pm
- Manchester Street - 9am to 10pm
- Wellington Street (from Stuart Street to George Street) - noon to 7pm
- Peel Street - noon to 7pm
